Contest Location
The 2007 Southwest Regional CCDC will be held at the University of
North Texas Research Park, home to the UNT
College of Engineering.
CCDC has high facility requirements, since each team runs a simulated
company network in a separate room, and we will be using College of
Engineering classrooms during Spring Break. A map to the research
park location, showing it in relation to the recommended hotel, is
given at the bottom of this page. The street address is 3940 North
Elm, which can be found by any major online mapping service
(Yahoo maps,
Google
maps, and
Mapquest), although the facility is
labeled "Texas Instruments" on these maps.
When you arrive at research park, turn left after entering the
facility and park in any of the student, faculty, or visitor spots.
Please do not park in specifically reserved parking spaces (marked for
the Dean, etc.). Enter the building through the main entrance (marked
"Dean's Office") and follow the signs to the contest location.
Hotel Information
There is a block of rooms
for CCDC at the Radisson
Hotel in Denton. These rooms are available at the group rate of
$85 per night (plus tax) if you make the reservation for the "CCDC"
group. The hotel is approximately 5-6 miles from the contest site,
and is located right next to the main UNT campus.
There are other many other hotels in the Denton area, but none are
within walking distance of the contest location. If you decide to
look into other lodging options and want opinions about various other
hotels or motels, please feel free to contact the contest
organizers.
For those flying in, you can fly to either the DFW airport or
Dallas Love Field. I would recommend renting a car at the airport,
because while getting to the Radisson is possible by taxi, getting
back and forth to the contest location would be difficult without your
own transportation.
Driving Directions and Map
From the south (including from the Radisson): Head north on
I-35E (which merges with I-35W in Denton and becomes just "I-35"), and
take Exit 470 (Loop 288). Follow the access road to the turn for East
Loop 288 (immediately past the "Good Eats" restaurant). When
you get on Loop 288, stay in the entrance-ramp lane, because you take
the first exit, which is fairly immediate. Turn right on this road
(Highway 77, also called Elm Street) and go about 8/10 mile to the
entrance to the UNT Research Park, on your left.
The map below shows the area of Denton that includes the hotel and the
contest site.
