3rd Southwest Regional Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition
(CCDC)
March 23 - 25, 2007
University of North Texas
UNT Research Park / College of Engineering
The University of North Texas is
proud to host the 2007 Southwest Regional Collegiate Cyber Defense
Competition. Here's how the contest works: Student teams (up to 8
full-time students) will be given pre-configured, running systems,
networked into the contest infrastructure. These system supply a set
of services to the network, and the goals for each team are to:
- Complete various business/technical tasks ("injects") which are
given to the teams during the contest
- Keep the services running and available
- Keep attackers out -- a "red team" of attackers will be trying to
cause trouble throughout the contest
Points are awarded (or taken away) for each of the goals, and the
winner is the team that has the most points at the end of the 3-day
contest. For detailed rules and contest scenario, please see the
links above.
The winner of this regional contest will receive an invitation to
compete in the national
contest, to be held April 13-15 in San Antonio, Texas.
Event Objectives:
- Provide an educational venue in which students are able to apply the theory and skills they have learned in their course work;
- Foster a spirit of teamwork, ethical behavior, and effective communication both within and across teams;
- Build a meaningful mechanism by which institutions of higher education may evaluate their programs.
- Open a dialog and awareness among participating institutions and students.
- Have fun!
Mission:
The Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) provides institutions with an information assurance or computer security curriculum a controlled competitive environment to assess their student's depth of understanding and operational competency in managing the challenges inherent in protecting an enterprise network infrastructure and business information systems.
The 2007 Southwest Regional CCDC is supported by the
UNT College of Engineering
and the
Center for Information and Computer Security.
